The first pet hotel in Amman, and still family run

Pet Lodge opened in 2015 as the first dedicated pet boarding centre in Amman. It is family owned and still family run, and one of the owners is on the premises twenty-four hours a day.

We are in Naour, on the outskirts of Amman, and that is a deliberate choice. It is differentiated by the open ground, the grown olive trees and the room for a swimming pool. We are still close enough, run a van and do the driving ourselves.

Our handlers are all local staff, trained and experienced, and two of them are certified in their field — Mahdi in training and Yasmeen in grooming, both named below. They build the groups, read the dynamics as they shift, and know which dogs should and should not be together. Groups are formed by size and temperament, never at random, and a handler stays with the group the whole time it is out. That is the single biggest reason group play here stays calm.

Every guest is vaccination-checked on arrival, with no exceptions, and the grounds and indoor rooms are disinfected to hospital grade every day. We have worked with the same vets for years, and there are clear protocols for what happens, and who we call, if anything goes wrong.

The people

Training is led by Mahdi, a certified trainer who completed a 30-hour professional Canine Behaviour Fundamentals programme with Mahmoud Fady Academy. His work is reward-based throughout — patience, calm and kindness, with no place for fear or force.

Grooming is led by Yasmeen, qualified as a Dog and Cat Grooming Specialist by Groom Academy, and trained to work with cats as well as dogs.
